Gallows are releasing their brand new album ‘Grey Britain’ on the 4th of May, and for the supporting tour they have a brand new screenprinted poster at each show of the UK run, i was lucky enough to be asked to do the very first poster for the tour which takes place at the Concorde2 in Brighton.
The band will have some at the show, but they only have a limited amount, after the show i will be selling them online through the site as well as a couple of other prints, so keep an eye out for that.
Check out all the other prints on the bands Myspace, its a real nice collection of prints by a great group of artists.
It was an epic print run, 5 colours water based acrylic, and we did around 150 prints, i had a lot of help from my girlfriend Skye and friend Hayley who was doing a bit of work experience with me. Big thanks to both of them as they made sure it was only a 12 hour day as opposed to 20!
As an interesting companion image, here is a print I did three years ago for the band right after the first album was released on inatthedeepend records, its a little rough now, but it was around the time i was learning how to print.
Below is a bunch of pictures from the day detailing the process..

My favourite print bed..‘THE BEAST’. We started printing at about 11am…

We used a ton of ink..

I put two seperations on each screen, which left enough room for the screen to have enough spring when printing.

First colour done, only 600 more squeegee pulls to go….

The next green was a subtle change, but just dark enough to make a nice difference when layered on top.

I struggled mixing this colour, it seemed too orange, but in the end it worked out great, with the darker red on top, it had just enough to stand out.

The moment it all hopefully comes together! Its amazing the difference the black can make, but it really did bring it all together finally, it took about 7 hours to get there, but we hit the black layer at about 7pm.

Hayley comparing the digital print out to the finished print, pretty close!

Definitely had enough printing now..

Skye cropping away at the prints.

The relief when this pile was finally in front of us was monumental, it took a good 11 hours or so to get there, but we did eventually..

The final print. On sale soon.
